Hello, my name is Liudmila. I was born in Lithuania, have family roots in Russia, but now I live in Norway:) I can't tell anything astonishing about myself... I'm not registered in the Guinness Book of Records, haven't invented the bicycle and wasn't elected as a president :D I'm an ordirary person with simple hobbies - love travelling, reading books, meeting my friends, I just love life as it is, with all advantages and disadvantages. The Carved Gourds(spanish-Mates Burilados) are a tradition of central Peru.
This of the ancient art of carving on gourd plants. At the end of the cord is attached a small piece of gourd showing this type of art. It bought in the international book fair in Mexico.
Historically, Andean people used gourds to store food and to this day they are used for storing salt and spices or drinking chicha and mate.
Archaeologists in Peru recently discovered a deity figure on a gourd carved over 4,000 years ago.

From Arequipa-Mirador of Yanahuara, Peru
Arequipa is the capital city of the Arequipa Region in southern Peru. With a population of 904,931 it is the second most populous city of the country. The suburb of Yanahuara is a nice place in Arequipa. The Mirador of Yanahuara was built in the nineteenth century and is composed of a series of sillar stone arches where the words of famous Arequipa citizens have been engraved. This spot is a wonderful view point of the city and Misti Volcano. The Iglesia de Yanahuara (church) which date from 1750. Located 2 km / 1 mile from downtown Arequipa (8 minutes by car).

Peruvian Pisco
Pisco is a strong, colorless grape brandy produced in Peru and Chile. It was developed by Spanish settlers in the 16th century as a cheaper alternative to orujo, a pomace brandy that was being imported from Spain.
Pisco takes its name from the conical pottery in which it was originally aged, which was also the name of one of the sites where it was produced: Pisco. The first vineyards were planted in the coastal valleys in the Viceroyalty of Peru, when vine plants arrived from the Canary Islands. Even though Spain imposed many restrictions on wine production and commerce, the wine-making industry developed rapidly, such as in the corregimientos of Ica. In modern times, it continues to be produced in winemaking regions of Peru and Chile. The right to produce and promote pisco has been the matter of legal disputes between Chile and Peru. More...

Peru
Peru , is a country in western South America. It is bordered on the north by Ecuador and Colombia, on the east by Brazil, on the southeast by Bolivia, on the south by Chile, and on the west by the Pacific Ocean.
Peruvian territory was home to the Norte Chico civilization, one of the oldest in the world, and to the Inca Empire, the largest state in Pre-Columbian America. The Spanish Empire conquered the region in the 16th century and established a Viceroyalty, which included most of its South American colonies. After achieving independence in 1821, Peru has undergone periods of political unrest and fiscal crisis as well as periods of stability and economic upswing. More...
