Clan Kennedy is a Scottish clan and an Irish surname.

This ancient clan descends from the Celtic Lords of Galloway. The Chiefs were successively Earls of Carrick, Cassillis and finally elevated to the Marquisate of Ailsa. They built the great Adam castle of Culzean, which is now one of the finest assets of the National Trust for Scotland. The Chiefship is vested in the Marquess of Ailsa.
